MTN Ghana, the
leading telecommunications service provider, has swept six prestigious awards
at the just ended HR Focus Awards.
For the third
time in a row, the telecommunications giant was adjudged the Overall Best Organization
in HR Practice. MTN was also awarded Best Organizational Culture, Employer of
Choice, Best HR Management in Telecommunication and IT, and Best Organization
Information System. In addition, the Human Resource Executive of MTN, Mrs. Amma
Benneh-Amponsah was adjudged the HR Practitioner of the Year.
These awards
were in recognition of MTN’s continual display of professionalism, technical
expertise and outstanding performance in the delivery of exemplary people
practices.
A citation,
signed by the President of the HR Focus Committee, Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan and
presented to MTN at the awards ceremony, reads
“Your HR visibility and role are second to none. You have established
yourselves not just as leaders, but as pacesetters. You have left a trail of
excellence with regards to Human Resource Management and have set a standard
that is worthy of emulation……..”
MTN was further
lauded for creating a conducive environment for growth and operating a positive
corporate structure where staff are treated fairly and with respect.
Speaking at the
awards ceremony, Mrs Benneh-Amponsah said:
“I believe the awards MTN has won
today are a testament of our best practices. We effectively use feedback we
solicit from our staff to improve on the quality and processes of working. We
also continually train our employees and ensure that the right performance
structures are put in place. This translates to the quality of service and
products MTN provides for its customers.”
She dedicated
the awards to the hardworking and dedicated staff of MTN. She also encouraged
all HR practitioners to be focused and strive for excellence.
The HR Awards
is organized by the HR Focus Magazine to identify and reward organizations that
have the tradition of best practices in Human Resource Management.
Over the years,
MTN has been lauded for the business’ unequalled commitment to high performance
through exceptional people management. MTN is the first in Corporate Ghana to
be awarded a Gold accreditation by Investors in People International, the
international standard for people management.
