MTN GHANA FOUNDATION CALLS FOR ENTRIES FOR 2017 TEACHERS’ IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME

Accra, July 19, 2017 - MTN Ghana Foundation has announced the commencement of the third edition of its Teachers’ Improvement Awards Programme (TIAP). MTN TIAP is a scholarship scheme that provides funding for teachers who wish to upgrade their education at the First or Master’s Degree level at the University of Cape Coast or University of Education, Winneba.  The scholarship is targeted at teachers in first and second cycle public institutions who seek to further their studies in Science, Mathematics or English Language. Qualified interested applicants are required to submit applications before 31 st July 2017. MTN GHANA PARTNERS BROADBAND HOME LTD TO LAUNCH ZIPTV

Accra, July 17, 2017 – MTN Business, a total ICT solutions provider for businesses, has partnered Broadband Home Limited, to launch ZipTV service for its customers. The ZipTV service provides customers with varied entertainment programs. ZipTV is an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) platform that delivers live digital content and video on demand to subscribers over an IP network. Consumers who sign up for the service will enjoy TV content from selected local and foreign channels, alongside videos which will be decoded by a set-top box and delivered directly to their mobile phones, tablets or smart-connected televisions via a home internet network. MTN Ghana Holds Stakeholders And Media Interactions

Scancom  Limited, operators of MTN Ghana has organized a stakeholder and Media forum in the Central Region to enumerate on some of its exploits and the plans for the future. Addressing the forum, Mrs Cynthia Lumor, the Corporate affairs Director of the company touched on some of the success stories of MTN over its 20 (10 years as MTN) years of operation. On infrastructure, MTN currently boasts of over 2,600 2G sites, 1713 3G sites and 475 4G sites on-air across the country. On why MTN still operates 2G despite the progress made so far, she said most subscribers use phones that are only compatible with 2G.  Plans are underway to build 345 new 2G network sites, 561 3G sites and 197 4G sites nationwide. The Network according to the company’s Corporate Service Executive, Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, is set to introduce new products aimed at deepening the content of its services. The drive, she added will be anchored on innovation as the company hopes to provide the best of platforms to its subscribers to do more with the network . She explained that a whopping $147m is being earmarked to improve service quality and innovation so that subscribers can have value for money. $143.7 million to be invested in network expansion in 2017 by MTN

Telecommunication Network (MTN), Ghana is to invest $143.7 million to expand, upgrade and maintain its state-of –the art network infrastructure to better serve its valued customers. Addressing editors in the Central Region on Wednesday in Elmina, Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Service Executive of MTN, said the expansion was necessary to consolidate their lead as the largest telecommunication network provider and to accomplish their mantra of “everywhere you go”. She said by the expansion,197 new 4G sites would be added to the existing 475 sites, additional 561 new 3G sites would also be built, while old sites were expected to be upgraded to ensure that they continued to stay ahead of demands for customers to experience utmost satisfaction. MTN INITIATES TO DRIVE MORE DIGITAL INNOVATIONS IN 2017

Ghana’s Market Leader in telecommunications Industry (MTN) Ghana has revealed that the company is putting in measures to introduce New Digital Services and maintain its state -of- the art network infrastructure to better serve their users. According to the Corporate Service Executive for MTN Ghana, Mrs. Cynthia Lumour who announced this at a Media Stakeholders forum in Capecoast, MTN will build 561 new 3G sites to enhance rich digital services. Additionally, 197 new 4G sites will be added to replace existing 475 sites. She continued that, plans are also underway to build 345 new 2G network sites in addition to the 2,600 2G sites already in existence. This is because most subscribers use phones that are only compatible with 2G. Refurbishing of the School Library at African Methodist Episcopal Zion School - Kweikuma in the Western Region. On the 14 th of June 2017, the Staff of MTN in Takoradi embarked on a journey to Kweikuma, a town close to Fijai in the Western Region. As the 21 Days of Y’ello Care themed ‘’Investing in Education for All’’ the school was selected as a beneficiary to have a new library even though they had intentions of building a library for the school but didn’t have the resources according to the Head Teacher of the school.

Donating of book and other E-Learning materials to the community school and the community library was also done by the Regional Senior Manager, Mr Simon Amoh during the MTNers visit to the Apam in the Central Region on the 13 th of June 2017. The 21 Days Y’ello Care is a staff volunteering activity spanning from 1 st June 2017 to 21 st June 2017 and it fuelled the donation of story books and other E-learning materials to the schools and the community library in Apam in the Central Region and it also helped kick-start the formation of reading clubs in the school to create a platform where readers will read story books to challenge themselves and this will help promote the habit of reading in the community.
