MTN GHANA’S EBENEZER TWUM ASANTE ADJUDGED CEO OF THE YEAR

Accra, July 28, 2017 – Mr. Ebenezer Twum Asante, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, has been adjudged CEO of the Year at the 2017 Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA) in Accra.


The Special Recognition Category of the GITTA Awards was created to recognize and laud industry players who symbolize excellence in their respective fields of operation. The award was given to Mr. Asante in recognition of his consistent exhibition of exceptional leadership in leading MTN Ghana to continually achieve its strategic objectives in a competitive telecommunications industry.

Commenting on the award, Mr. Asante said, “I am humbled by this award, which clearly affirms the importance of MTN’s focus on providing distinct customer experience, creating stakeholder value and ensuring sustainable growth. I dedicate this award to the staff and leadership of MTN for their commitment to ensuring that we satisfy our customers through reliable, relevant and innovative telecommunication services.”

Mr. Ebenezer Twum Asante is the first Ghanaian CEO of MTN Ghana, and has won a myriad of awards for sustaining and expanding growth. Earlier this year, he was adjudged 2016 Overall Best CEO in Africa's telecommunication industry at the AfricaCom Awards and MTN Group Best CEO. He was also adjudged the Telecommunications Service Executive of the Year at the Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Award Gala.


Mr. Asante came tops of the Telecommunication Sector CEO Media Visibility rating, conducted by the Institute of Africa Media Monitoring Intelligence and Advocacy (IAMMA) in the first quarter of 2017.

Apart from the CEO of the Year Award, MTN also bagged nine other awards including the Customer Experience Award, 4G LTE Provider of the Year Award, Mobile Money Service of the Year Award, Cloud Service Provider of the Year Award, CSR Company of the Year Award, Mobile Operator of the Year Award, IT Team of the Year Award and Customer Service Team of the Year Award.

The Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards was established to celebrate leaders in innovation and customer service in the Telecommunications Industry. Awards in the various segments were contested for by Telecommunications industry players in Ghana.
