MTN
Organizes Training in Digital Communications for Media
MTN Ghana has
organized a capacity building session in Feature Writing and Digital
Communications as part of its Media Development Forum for targeted online media
persons and select business journalists in the country.
The Corporate
Communications Senior Manager of MTN Ghana, Gina Fiagbenu who facilitated the
program encouraged the participants to take full advantage of the digital space
to reach more audiences and to expand their scope of work. She said MTN will
continue to share knowledge with the media in line with its vision of leading
the delivery of a bold new digital world.
Kwasi Gyan Apenteng, a
veteran journalist, member of Ghana’s Media Commission and President of the
Ghana Association of Writers took the opportunity to advise the media
fraternity to do more interesting features for media outlets. He said the
additional angles they bring to stories can make them more attractive for the
international audience. He admonished the media to develop an ideas bank and
work hard to develop innovative stories that will appeal to the larger global
audience which has become part of their audiences because of the opportunities
of the new digital world.
He said, ”You can make
money through writing features.” “The international press is on the lookout for
stories from Ghana and they are ready to pay you for writing for them”.
Maximus Ametorgoh, CEO
of PopOut Ghana and a renowned resource person in digital marketing communications,
shared highlights on how people are earning income through creative work they
post on social media.
He shared fascinating
research statistics on how traffic on social media platforms have grown within
a short period of time, making it one of the fastest channels of disseminating
information. He gave the participants a lot of insights into how each of the
different social media channels can be exploited to increase their following
within the digital space.
Participants at the
forum included selected online media editors, representatives of the Network of
Communications Reporters (NCR), Sports Writers Association of Ghana, and
Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA).
